So [livejournal.com profile] catchmelike did the Year In Review meme, and I was thinking about it yesterday too. And when I looked, I realised that I didn't post in September or November. I think that's the first time since I got an LJ when there's been one month when I didn't post once, let alone two. And after I started the year so well!

So in an attempt to rectify, and possibly have an actual record of this year should I ever feel the need to look back, I've decided to do a few random posts focused on specific events that I never got around to posting about. These will probably be mostly pictures, but you know me, I talk a lot.

I'm going to start with taking Mam to see Take That, because it was freaking amazing. And because we just watched the tour DVD and genuinely both sat on the sofa, in our pyjamas, covered in a duvet and flinging our hands into the air during Never Forget.

When we were walking towards the Stadium (due to my A+ knowledge routes from where I parked to the ground) I spotted the top of the set poking out above the roof. I actually love this picture despite it not being of very much, because it shows how freaking massive the thing inside was. (Wider shot here, which gives perspective)

And then we got inside, and got our first look at the stage (and the front of the head that we'd already seen the back of).

Take That

Support came from the Pet Shop Boys, who did a great job at putting on a show despite not being able to take over the stage like if it was just a PSB concert.

The countdown...

Countdown

The show started off with all four boys - it was the opposite of The Circus tour where there had been a massive hullaballoo where they came out onto the middle stage hidden in balloons and circus acts galore - this started with just the four of them (no Robbie) doing the "TT4" stuff that they've done since they came back - Rule The World, Greatest Day, Hold Up A Light, Patience, and Shine. There was incense being flung around, a tickertape explosion:

Take That

And an Alice In Wonderland style setup for Shine. Sadly I didn't get a picture of Mark riding the caterpillar!

Take That

Next was Robbie's turn to do his solo stuff - we were treated to Let Me Entertain You, Rock DJ, Come Undone, Feel and Angels. I'm not the biggest fan of Robbie (that's probably an understatement) but he was still entertaining for the half an hour he was there. I much prefer Take That as a four piece though.

Robbie Williams

Then it was time for "TT5" - everything at a Take That show is just incredible. They started out with The Flood - highlights being the people who formed themselves into the shape of the album cover:

Take That

And the fact that they sang half of it from the walkway underneath the giant man's chin, and then Robbie abseiled down:

Take That

The next few songs were all from Progress - SOS, Underground Machine, Kids and Pretty Things - which was sung from the hands of the second giant robot man in the stadium.

Take That

They posed as a five-piece for people to take photos, before they started doing some of the old stuff:

Take That

The older stuff was a medley (A Million Love Songs, Babe & Everything Changes), Back For Good, and Pray. I didn't take any pictures during Pray, but I did take a video because boyband dancing FTW! (I'm not embedding it, because it's not a great video, but I'll link it because I know sometime in the future I'll want to know where I put it!)

Take That

Next was Love Love, again riding on the man, who was now making his way down the runway... My pictures from this song are some of my favourites from the night.

The Giant Robot Man stood up during Never Forget.

They ended on a No Regrets/Relight My Fire medley, and then Eight Letters. God, just watching the DVD has really made me wish I'd gone more than once. I loved it. Freaking loved it.

The next thing I decide to make a post about will probably be less picture heavy.
