I finally have something I can put in my calendar for April - March has been a month of boredom, and in fact after Jonathan's play at the start of Feb, that month was pretty dull too.

So to cheer myself up out of the sadness of not seeing any of my friends for AGES and potentially not seeing any of them for ages still, I booked a ticket to go and see the Dancing on Ice tour - I had decided at the start of the show I wasn't going to bother this year as the celebs weren't very interesting, but the pros have won me over! Well, one pro in particular. I've barely even missed Fred thanks to Colin!

It's the last day of the tour, too, so there's a good chance more of them will come out to sign.

And also, VANILLA ICE.

I got bored and started reading the matched betting thread at Money Saving Experts and made £12 today which was nice!

NPH Fan got a review copy of the Dr Horrible book from Titan, so I need to write up something about that and post it tonight. Probably after Ant & Dec. Hilary and I are very excited as it's our first 'free thing' since we opened the site!

Scrubs marathon continues (halfway through season 6 now), though at a slower pace due to spending the last week watching Life Unexpected every spare 40 minutes I've had. Just six episodes left, and I think I'm in love with Kerr Smith. Lexi from TVD is in it, and she's not as awesome as she was in that. She's kind of annoying in this.

Train tickets booked for Insurgence, so that's sorted - just need to renew my railcard now. The last time I'll be able to do that!

Edit: My first paragraph was a lie, about having something to do in April. I've just remembered that the day I've booked tickets for is May 1st. April is another month of staying in bed.

I very rarely get out of bed on a weekend if there's no football or Echelon event of some sort, but today I did! I've been very productive. I went to the post office with a big box of DVDs to sell to Music Magpie, which I should get about £15 for. I bought a bag of coal and posted some birthday cards, and finished sorting my car insurance.

Then I came home and watched some of the live Red Nose Day 24 hour panel show stuff - Would I Lie To You was funny as ever, then 8 Out of 10 Cats was a bit shit so I switched off and watched some Scrubs. I've now finished season 4 in my marathon!

The rest of my afternoon (aside from watching football) can be summed up in pictures:

And SAFC got a clean sheet and a point against Arsenal, so all in all, good day!

We had relatives over today so I had to get up - boo! But we saw The King's Speech yesterday and I really enjoyed that. Thanks to seeing that and Black Swan on Thursday, I've now seen half of the Best Picture nominees and should be up to 7 by the time the ceremony is on - and this year we have Sky Movies for the first time, and I'm off on the Monday, so I can watch the whole thing! Woo! Also, a hot guy who was the double of Andrew Garfield served us at the Ben & Jerry's stand so I may have to go back to the Vue, even though we prefer the City Screen as it's both cheaper and closer. Oh well!

Dad is back at work, though he says he's still not really better. He hopes to come to the match on Tuesday as long as I can drive, and has promised to drive to the next two or three to make up for it. Our game vs Spurs on Feb 12th has been moved to a 5.30 kick off for ESPN which has angered a lot of people - both SAFC fans and Spurs fans - because it's only 15 days notice and a lot of people have already made travel plans, which is a fair complaint I think! Plus a lot of people seem to have tickets to see Peter Kay at the Arena that night so they're all going to be late now!

Day 21 → A recipe

I have a lot of favourites. My absolute favourite is the chocolate melting cake from the Carnival cruise that Shirley and I went on - about two years on, they sent me an advert and it had the recipe in it! I made it for Karen and Max once, but it's been a while. I should dig the recipe out, but until I find it, my second favourite will have to do!

(I still think this is a weird question btw).

Mam got me a Mexican cook book for my birthday last year and I'm still cooking my way through it, but this one has gone well for me when I tried it!

Chorizo & Potato Quesdillas:
(serves 4)

350g potatoes
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 clove of garlic, chopped
200g chorizo, chopped
4 large flour or corn tortillas
400g cheese, grated

1. Cut the potatoes into chunks and fry until tender. Leave to cool a little and then dice them into 1cm blocks. Fry the onion until soft, add the garlic and cook for a further 3 minutes. Mix in the chorizo and potato, turn the heat up and fry for another 4 minutes. Season.

2. Spread a quarter of the mixture on one half of a tortilla and sprinkle with a fistful of cheese

3. Fold the tortilla over, brush it with oil and place in a hot dry frying pan or griddle, cook til golden and crisp. Cut into wedges and serve!

Easy but tasty!

Watched the Golden Globes. Didn't have much of an opinion in most categories but was pleased or indifferent in the majority, except for Chris Colfer winning. I had actually said to Mam "Anybody but Chris Colfer should win this one" right before they announced it, so eh.

So I went to bed at 4am after it was over, and woke up around 11 and watched some of This Morning in bed. Then there was a big revelation about Darren Bent handing in a transfer request so I had to get up, and I've been on the sofa watching Sky Sports News ever since.

Day 20 → 3 personality quirks about you

1. I don't like wearing socks without shoes. It's either both or neither for me.
2. I like to cut cheese neatly. When Mam scrapes chunks off to melt on top of meals, it makes the cheese a weird shape! I like it to stay in a block so I can cut straight down from top to bottom with it flat on the table!
3. I refuse to meet up with people inside places. I have a fear of people being able to see me when I can't see them so if possible I always arrive first so I can get a good vantage point, and if we're meeting at a restaurant or shop and I'm arriving last then somebody has to come out to get me. I will not go in and look. Meeting at a landmark and going to the place is always my preference over meeting at the place we're actually going to, otherwise I get all jittery. This goes to the point where if I'm meeting somebody on a bus that they're already on, I'll get them to text me their exact location on the bus so that I can find them when I get on it.

Went to the match today - the less said about our performance the better but we scraped a not-really-deserved point and I'll leave it at that! Went to the pub for a few hours after - much easier when Dad's not there because I can stay as long as I like! He always wants to get home - he's an old man now ;)

He didn't make it in the end, he sold a ticket to a friend of my cousin who we'd never met, and just sent me a text saying to expect a lad who "looks like an egg" as my uncle had told me that was the lad's nickname. He looked NOTHING like an egg! Tall and fairly thin with thick dark hair! Random.

I'm off work tomorrow so tonight I'm going to eat Maltesers and take advantage of having Sky Movies now, and stay up to watch the Golden Globes.

I had a message on Facebook from a girl I know from the York office at work - she's leaving. :( I'm very sad, because Aimee's brilliant at her job and really fun to talk to, but she says they're expected to make 50 sales calls a day now and it's turned into so much like a call centre that she can't handle it. :( But despite not really knowing her properly as a friend, just through work, she sent me a message to tell me because she wants to stay in touch and meet up for coffee after she leaves, which is so nice! I'll miss her though. I hope the other people who are actually good at their jobs don't follow her out the door.

Day 19 → A talent of yours
Hmmm. My talents are weird and varied, and all almost entirely useless. I can turn my feet into a fist and walk on them. I can bend my fingers all the way backwards. I can fall asleep on public transport and wake up exactly where I need to. I can travel from Spain to Yorkshire without going to the toilet. I know there are more weird talents but I can't think what right now!

I general I am, as Jaina put it, a total weirdy. And proud!

I was doing so well posting every day, and then missed one day and gave up after that! Fail. I think it's mostly to do with the fact I wanted to post the next question in the 30 days meme, and couldn't think of an answer. I still can't, but I shall waffle about it anyway!

Day 18 → Something that you miss
This is really hard. There are a lot of PEOPLE that I miss, but not a lot of things. I miss getting a nap on the bus on the way to work, but I have replaced that with a nap in the car park when I get to work, so that doesn't really count any more. I miss living in Sunderland for a lot of reasons, but there are also a lot of reasons I'm not so bothered. I think very soon I'm going to miss having Friday-Monday off once a month because of our day off rota - and I'm already starting to resent Jill for it. I miss our living room smelling of Christmas when you walk into it now that the tree is gone. I miss petrol costing under £1 a litre.

I think that's enough for that!

Today has been lovely. I've had a long bath, read for a while and watched some tv in front of the fire. 2011 seems to be a year of reading more books than I have done for a while, which is something I'm really happy to get back to as I love to read but the internet and having showers instead of baths mean I haven't done nearly as much of it these last few years.

The rest of today will be dedicated to the new series of Dancing On Ice and trying to think of some extra things to get Mam for her birthday. I booked tickets for me and Hilary to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate in Much Ado About Nothing and Mam's coming too, maybe I'll just offer to pay for her ticket. I've got a few bits already so if I did that I'd probably be all sorted.

I seem to have hurt the top of my leg somehow, but the bath seems to have helped so that's good. Fingers crossed it's better by tomorrow or driving might be fun!

Today was a long day. I decided to go to the match, and I'm glad I did - if only because I was one of only 17,000 people who actually bothered to show up so now I can be all judgmental at the people who didn't. And I got to sit in a different place and see things from a different angle - I love my seat but the change was nice!

It's weird how a day where I get up at 10am, go to the match and am home by 8pm is so much more tiring when I get the train compared to driving there myself. Especially considering on the train I can sleep.

Match itself was shit, though I was actually surprised that he played most of the first team. They all needed a rest and you could tell - probably should have played more reserves and kids and that would have given us an excuse for being so shit, too.

But hey ho.

Now I'm ready for bed, and I've just poured hot water over my hand. Oops. OAnd ow.

I am very much enjoying my 50p off at Starbucks vouchers. Even though the cream is still the crappy new stuff that melts far too fast. I was really super tired this morning for no reason at all, so I think it'll have to be an early night tonight.

I went to take my Dad's Christmas presents to his house last Thursday - I saw him on Tuesday but at the match, and I wanted to see him open his presents so I kept them til I had time to drop in with them. I got there and Julie let me in, which is weird in itself, as Dad always answers the door. It turns out he'd been off work ill - she got him to come downstairs but he was really weird and dizzy the whole time. He opened his things and seemed pleased with them but then I left him to recover some more. I texted him on Friday to see if he was feeling better and he said he hadn't been able to get a doctors appointment but that he was still dizzy, though a bit better - he spoke to a doctor on the phone who diagnosed him with acute onset vertigo. I sent him a text today and he's still off work, no better, with a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Hopefully she'll be able to sort him out because he's not generally a sickly person and hates sitting around doing nothing - plus we play Newcastle a week on Sunday and he can't miss that! ;)

Day 17 → Your favourite holiday
I am going to choose to answer this as a holiday I went on, rather than a public holiday, because I don't have such a thing as a favourite one of those, and since I made this meme up, I can answer it however I want!

This is another really tough one because I've had some amazing holidays over the last few years - Barcelona/Salou, Portugal, LA/San Diego/San Francisco with Quinn last year, but I think I'll have to go with LA/San Diego 2009 with Jaina, Hilary, Ryan, Karen and Max. Purely because there were so many of us, it was a long trip and we went so far away - all of those things combined make it particularly memorable, and then there are just so many memories from the whole time. The condo we rented is top of the list of why it was awesome though - I wish I could win the lottery so I could buy that condo from the woman. I totally would. I'd pay anything. I met Paul Gross - nine year old me died happy that day. The whole trip was just absolutely brilliant. So it wins here!
