I keep thinking I'll make a post about the things I've done since my last post. I keep meaning to, and then don't, and I was like "It's fine, as long as I do it before San Diego that's fine."

Except I leave to catch my bus to catch another bus to sit around in Starbucks at Victoria for five hours before I go to Heathrow to fly tomorrow, at 11pm tonight, and I haven't, and it's increasingly likely that I'll ever get around to it.

Oh well! See you when I get back!

(Or more likely, I will update here more than I have done for months because we'll be sitting in queues with nothing better to do. That's what happened last year!)

Also, I have a Darren Criss mood theme now and it's distracting. :D

Today has been randomly productive. I mean, yes, I have literally JUST showered and changed from one set of pyjamas into another, and yes, I was still in bed when Mam got home at 4.45pm. But I got a lot done FROM bed, which is what's important!

1. After watching This Morning I went to the kitchen and made the filling for my empanadas that I was going to make when Mam got home. Then went back to bed.
2. I booked a load of coach tickets for upcoming things - just one set left to book now.
3. I emailed the lady I met in the White Collar talk at Comic Con who I promised to email my photos to, and hadn't til now.
4. I emailed Jan and Ellie, who Quinn and I met on the WB Tour.
5. I made those empanadas (mentioned above).
6. I made a poster for the contest The Best & The Brightest are having. It's tough because they don't give you any size specs or details, they just said "Here's some pics, make a poster! Use the pictures, or not! Up to you!" and I've never entered anything like that before but I looked at the ones entered so far and thought I could at least do something as good as those. I'm quite pleased with what I did. (This is what I did)
7. I finally managed to write more than a sentence for my book about the Travelodge without stopping and doing something else.
8. Watched some of the Peter Serafinowicz DVD that Emma lent me ages ago so that when she inevitably asks me tomorrow if I've watched any of it yet, I can finally say yes!

Things I forgot:

1. Going to see GDL in Cinderella again next Wednesday. If he's going to quit doing cons after FedCon and Australia, I need to get his sig on that Torchwood box set!

2. [livejournal.com profile] emailitin and I are about ready to book our flights to LA/San Diego/San Francisco! The prices are decent at the moment so we're going to just go for it!

3. Flights to Portugal for May are booked, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] angelite's credit card.

4. I forgot to say that at Jaina's, we also spent 11 minutes watching Sky One's Christmas Log Fire, which surprisingly actually did make me feel rather cosy!

5. The snow has had remarkably little effect on me so far, although I brought a duvet and sleeping bag back into the house after taking them to Jaina's - the sleeping bag and pillow are now back in the car just in case, after hearing the tales of Hilary spending the night in her office and it taking Melissa's mum 8 hours to get home.

6. Work is busy busy busy the next couple of days. Getting everything done before Christmas is a mammoth task, we've got about 14 daily papers to sort out before we go home tomorrow plus some weekly titles too, we need to get them ready so that all we need to do on Thursday is send the pages, not have to track everybody down too.

I've made a rather detailed list for my jobs for tomorrow. I'm still not convinced I remembered to do everything I was meant to do today. Hopefully I did, otherwise Amanda will have received a late night phone call from the Northern Echo offices...

7. I have a hot water bottle so I am going to cosy up in bed now.

So... Comic Con. I feel like, since we got back Wednesday and I was fortunate enough to be able to take Thursday and Friday off (unlike [livejournal.com profile] fray101, [livejournal.com profile] jainaj and [livejournal.com profile] mrbuttmonkey who are all totally hardcore) I should try to write some kind of report. But there's just so much to say! So... here is an attempt at something on the LA part of our trip... with a few Comic Con tidbits too.

We are flying, we, we are flying! )

I got up at 3.45am to get in line for David Tennant's 10am talk. It's now 4.40am. Lovely man, you had better be worth this!

I met Paul Gross today. I never thought that would happen, ever! And I got a posed photo with him too! Nine year old me is so jealous right now! Today has been awesome. Got Glee autos, met Paul, Rebecca Romijn, Jaime Ray Newman and Lindsay Price, saw a Jeffster perf in the Chuck panel, got John Barrowman's auto on my CoE DVD with much less queue hassle than you'd get at a UK con, met the Being Human cast and my friends walked past David Tennant. Now time for bed!

We're in the queue for the Chuck panel, sitting outside the convention centre on the floor. It's 6.30am, we've been here am hour. At least you know it's worth it when Zac Levi is involved! The Guild and Eureka panels were awesome yesterday, so glad we skipped Fox Friday for them! Joss who? ;-)

It's 8am and we're in the queue for the Middleman talk. Which starts at 11.15. We're almost at the front, though! Comic Con are having queue fail right now, they can't decide where to put us. People are reading comics so I'm taking advantage of the free wifi on my phone. Also Karen and Max are talking to people we don't know which is against the rules. My Rach rules. Anyway, having serious fun! The condo is amazing, we went to Hard Rock last night which they've turned into Cafe Diem from Eureka. We stole things. It was awesome.

I don't really have words for Torchwood, so I'm not going to say anything other than I never thought Torchwood could be so GOOD. So hooray! I may even buy the DVD! In fact I think I've decided I will, and I'll get Eve to sign it at LFCC, probably.

Going to Danny Wallace reading/signing on Tuesday, provided I can get across to Leeds in time. Should be doable, I think. Also providing they haven't sold out of tickets, but I'm going to get my Dad to go in tomorrow and check I'll be okay to show up on the door.

Then Mam and I have tickets for the new HP on Wednesday, at 8.40 though which I was not too happy about - but she's bought them now!

This time next week we'll be done with the hostel, done with LFCC and I'll be chillaxing at [livejournal.com profile] jainaj's house with [livejournal.com profile] fallen_wiccan and [livejournal.com profile] scourgeoe after having watched Top Gear (I'm assuming!).

And then on Monday, along with [livejournal.com profile] fray101 and [livejournal.com profile] mrbuttmonkey, we'll be off! Everybody keeps taking about packing, but feh - I'll probably pack on Friday night, knowing me. Though this week will be a week of trying not to wear anything I want to take with me, I know that much. The only thing in my suitcase so far is Karen's iPhone charger so I can be sure I won't forget it.

The Comic Con schedule planning is insane - what is less insane is our LA planning. We get there Monday night, we're going to check in to our hotel, grab some delish ice-cream from Cold Stone, stop by Mann's Chinese Theatre to buy tickets for HP on Tuesday (I love the inside of that cinema so much it doesn't even matter what's showing) and then head off to La Cantina for drinkies!

Tuesday is WB Tour day, which despite the fact I've done it before, I cannot WAIT to go on. It was so much better than the Universal Studios tour, because while Universal is great, you go on a 45 minute bus ride with umpteen other people on a route that's set out and the same one everybody takes. With the WB, you're there for well over two hours, there's only 12 people on your tour (and there's six of us, so we're half!) and they take you where you want to go to see the things you want to see. The guide will just drive the cart wherever he/she feels like, which is awesome and makes every tour different.

After that we're going on a bus tour around Rodeo Drive/Sunset Blvd/Beverly Hills etc, and since it's hop on hop off, we might get off in one of those places and explore before coming back to Hollywood to go to California Pizza Kitchen for food and then going to see HP.

Wednesday we get the train to San Diego for Comic Con mentalism! We've been scouring the schedules, I have a spreadsheet, we have various lists, we're coming armed with highlighters... I want to see Middleman on Thursday, The Guild and Eureka on Friday, Chuck on Saturday (everybody! Including Yvonne! And Ryan! And Sarah! EEH!) and the lovely David Tennant on Sunday. Hopefully everything will go to plan but we're well prepared for much queuing, early starts and not getting everything we want to see!

CAN'T WAIT! Whee! Five days at work... counting down!
