So [livejournal.com profile] catchmelike did the Year In Review meme, and I was thinking about it yesterday too. And when I looked, I realised that I didn't post in September or November. I think that's the first time since I got an LJ when there's been one month when I didn't post once, let alone two. And after I started the year so well!

So in an attempt to rectify, and possibly have an actual record of this year should I ever feel the need to look back, I've decided to do a few random posts focused on specific events that I never got around to posting about. These will probably be mostly pictures, but you know me, I talk a lot.

Catchup Post #1 - May 30th 2011 )

The next thing I decide to make a post about will probably be less picture heavy.

Today has been randomly productive. Which nobody at work will believe when I go in tomorrow. I stayed up until 4am talking to [livejournal.com profile] playfullips - it was like old times! - and then got up before noon and took my car to get a free tyre check at the ATS so I know if they need replacing before I get my MOT done. The back ones are fine but the front ones are getting low on tread depth, so I need to remember to order a set of front tyres to be waiting at the garage when I go for my service/MOT at the start of Nov.

Then I spent the whole day on Wii Fit while catching up on TV things. It has apparently been 418 days since I last used Wii Fit, oops. I had a lot of fun though, I just can't walk now.

I took Mam to her friend's house after that, so I was actually dressed for the better part of 10 hours. Very unusual for me on my day off!

I'm watching far too many new TV shows. The Playboy Club being cancelled has eased that a little, at least. And now Glee's off for a month (sadface) so that lightens up my Wednesdays for a while, and by then hopefully I will have come to a decision about whether to stick with Ringer or not. Or maybe had that decision made for me. We'll see.

I feel like I've forgotten how to be awake for longer than 12 hours. In fact I've only been awake for 7 hours and I'm struggling to do that too! Nothing like the heights of SDCC when we were up for 38 hours with only a bit of power napping on damp grass.

Stupid work. I am very grateful for the fact I got back last Tuesday night and only had to come back to work today, of course, but that doesn't stop me wishing I was still in bed! At some point I will make a proper Comic Con post. Probably.

Quite fancy a pint of margarita right now though. Mmm.

I keep thinking I'll make a post about the things I've done since my last post. I keep meaning to, and then don't, and I was like "It's fine, as long as I do it before San Diego that's fine."

Except I leave to catch my bus to catch another bus to sit around in Starbucks at Victoria for five hours before I go to Heathrow to fly tomorrow, at 11pm tonight, and I haven't, and it's increasingly likely that I'll ever get around to it.

Oh well! See you when I get back!

(Or more likely, I will update here more than I have done for months because we'll be sitting in queues with nothing better to do. That's what happened last year!)

Also, I have a Darren Criss mood theme now and it's distracting. :D

Some days I love my job - well, the people I work with. We all get on really well and it's great! Today there was an item on the radio about something to do with some people believing an article from The Onion. The conversation turned into an out-loud version of Chinese whispers! Jo had never heard of The Onion, and could only hear half the item because the radio was too quiet. I explained what it was, and she said "Oh right! I thought it was like Paul the Octopus!"

Emma burst out laughing and said "WHAT?! You thought it was an Onion that makes up sarcastic news stories?!"

We all got the giggles after that and nothing made sense. Eventually I discovered that Emma hadn't heard Jo properly when she said "I thought" and thought Jo still believe the Onion was a special Paul-esque Onion AFTER I explained it.

Laughed so hard I cried. These are the best days at work!

Once again I totally forgot I was doing a meme. Oops. Anyway, I am spending the weekend trying to avoid reports, pictures and video from Take That. Currently I'm watching Serenity and have just finished tidying under my desk. I miss the days when I could quote all of Serenity along with the movie. But it's like watching it with fresh eyes, which is good, it's been too long!

After spending the first five months of the year as a loner, with the exception of football days and the two times I've seen some of my friends, I have an insane two months lined up and I can't wait! Take That with Mam tomorrow, Insurgence with Hilary on Friday, my friends are coming to visit the Ghost Creeper for my birthday the weekend after, then Glee Live, T3, LFCC for Karen Gillan, San Diego, and possibly G1. All before the end of July! Excited does not cover it. And then the football season will start again! Woo!

So, back to the meme.

Day 23 → A song that you hear often on the radio
I hear a lot of songs often on the radio due to listening to Radio 2 all day every day at work. Still, it's better than when we used to listed to The Pulse and it was practically four songs on repeat the whole day. Recently they've played Alice Gold's Runaway Love a lot, which reminds me of Ryan, and Patrick Wolf a lot too which reminds me of Melissa. And then lots of Take That which I just generally enjoy.

Today was awesome. I had a lie in, and got up with no alarm around 11. Had a shower and sat around for a while, and then headed into York. I nipped into the office to leave a Chuck DVD for Terry and had chance to say hi to Sally, who I suspect lives in the office as she's always there if I pop in at the weekend.

Did some shopping (bought lightbulbs) and had a look for a coat I liked but failed (probably because I didn't try very hard).

While I was standing in WH Smiths reading an interview with Niall Quinn in FourFourTwo magazine, Ryan phoned, so I left the shop to talk to him as people had started looking at me as soon as I said hello. I was informed that he and Nikki were on Micklegate, which wasn't far from where I was, and luckily they were with Nikki's friend Rosie (who they're staying with tonight) so I didn't need to direct them to me which was good.

Was very happy to finally meet Nikki! We all sat at Starbucks for a while, incorporating happy hour (which Ryan renamed Frappy Hour and I have no idea why they weren't promoting it as such!) getting our half price fraps and just hanging out chatting. We weren't sure what to do next, and were just going to have a wander around the general tourist sites - the Minster, Clifford's Tower etc - but were sidetracked by the Tourist Information centre to see what time the Railway Museum closed. While there we saw a leaflet. A leaflet that intrigued us. The bottom half was covered by other leaflets. The top half was this:

What might this free fun have involved, you ask? Click the cut to find out! )

Very much looking forward to having an even bigger group of people to invade York in three weeks' time!

Sitting in the lobby of the Rad abusing the free wifi before I go back to the hotel I'm actually staying in.

Today has been weird. I stayed at Jaina's last night which was awesome, as I haven't seen any of my peeps since Feb and I miss them all. We watched The Cube and other randomness and then kept chatting for ages.

This morning I left somewhere around 9.30, which was weird thing number one. Arriving at a con on Saturday morning is strange. I saw Fiona straight away though, and we watched a couple of talks together before I decided to skip Alessandra's as I wasn't that interested. Jonathan's talk was good - he spent a large portion of it mocking the awful play he did, and picking up on all the plot holes that had amused us so much. So glad he knew it was bad!

Went back in for Aaron Douglas and Bodie Olmos, who amused as expected, then skipped the last talk and went to the hotel with (via McDonalds) to watch Community and Parks & Rec on my laptop. Skipping talks was the next weird thing - usually I can handle talks even from people I've never heard of, but eh, I'll see them all tomorrow in better combinations.

Watched Doctor Who, had a nap, then came back for fancy dress.

And have been sitting in the lobby ever since! Fiona is the only person here's I know and it's been so long since I've done a con solo I feel all lost!

Jonathan walked past about 5 minutes ago and looked at me sitting in my comfy chair, stopped walking and stared at me like he was imagining me before saying hello, that he hadn't seen me before and he's glad I came. Then he hit me on the head and apologised due to being drunk. Bless!

Think I might go to bed soon. This was meant to be like two sentences.

I hate this week already. Too busy. I worked solidly from 8.45 til 7.20 today with a 15 minute break to run to Starbucks and that's all. Tomorrow and Thursday will be a case of rinse and repeat, I think!

However, I need to take a minute to squee that Paul Wesley is coming to Insurgence.

So - SQUEE!

Bed now.
